Welcome to Brantford: Red Sox Sign Pitcher Nicholai Arbach

BRANTFORD, ON — The Brantford Red Sox, proud members of the Intercounty Baseball League (IBL), are excited to announce the signing of import pitcher Nicholai Arbach from Hayti, South Dakota.

Arbach is currently a senior at Dakota State University, where he is teammates with Red Sox catcher Cassidy Watt. A right-hander with a fastball that tops out at 91 mph, Arbach features a deceptive delivery and command of a full arsenal of pitches.

So far this season at Dakota State, Arbach has made 8 starts, recording 6 complete games and 2 shutouts. He holds a 5-2 record with a 2.36 ERA, striking out 46 batters while issuing only 12 walks over 49.2 innings pitched. Over his collegiate career, Arbach has compiled an 11-9 record with 2 saves, 169 strikeouts in 137.2 innings, and a 4.38 ERA.

Last summer, Arbach gained additional experience pitching in Alaska, where he posted a 1-2 record with a 2.74 ERA.

“Nicholai is a great addition to our club,” said Red Sox General Manager Jeff Lounsbury. “The fact that he already has great chemistry with Cassidy will only help. He’s had a strong year at school—he throws strikes, knows how to win, and knows how to use all of his tools effectively.”

Founded in 1911, the Brantford Red Sox have a rich history that includes 15 IBL championships. Admission to all 2025 home games is FREE, and fans are encouraged to stay up to date by following the Red Sox on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram. Live and on-demand streams of home games are available on the Brantford Red Sox YouTube channel.

On behalf of the entire organization and our fans—welcome to Brantford, Nicholai!
