Brantford Red Sox Sign Right-Handed Pitcher Masahiro Fukuda
BRANTFORD, ON – The Brantford Red Sox, proud members of the Intercounty Baseball League (IBL), are excited to announce the signing of right-handed pitcher Masahiro Fukuda from Fukuyama, Japan.
Fukuda, 23, is a member of the traveling Asian Breeze baseball team, which competes across Arizona against various teams to showcase its talented players. He brings a five-pitch repertoire to the Red Sox, featuring a fastball that reaches the low 90s.
The promising pitcher spent four years playing in Japan with the Tokushima Indigo Sox and Shianan Grandserows, amassing 90 innings pitched with 111 strikeouts and only 42 walks.
“We are excited to see Fukuda pitch in the IBL. He has the ability to throw strikes with multiple pitches and will be an innings eater for us. He also has versatility and can pitch in various roles,” said Jeff Lounsbury, Brantford Red Sox General Manager.
Founded in 1911, the Brantford Red Sox are one of the most storied franchises in the IBL, with 15 Intercounty Baseball League titles.
