The Brantford Red Sox flexed their muscles on Monday, re-asserting their dominance of the Burlington Twins in the Intercounty Baseball League quarter-final playoff series.

The Red Sox scored three runs in the first inning off a three-run homer by Terrell Alliman and never looked back, defeating the Twins 15-5 at Nelson Park.

Brantford takes a 2-1 series lead heading into Game 4 of the best-of-seven affair tonight (Wednesday) in Brantford.

Twins starter Jordell Farquarsson settled down after the home run and limited the Red Sox hitters to one more run until he was replaced after loading the bases in the sixth inning.

Reliever Aaron Boag was greeted by a long home run by Josh McCurdy, and the next batter, Hyung Cho, hit his first of two home runs on the night as well, turning a 4-1 game into an 9-1 laugher.

The Red Sox, easy winners of the regular-season title in 2012, have now outscored the eighth-place Twins 36-10 in the two playoff wins, which were sandwiched around a 7-2 Twins victory in Game 2.

The Twins had a chance to do some damage in the third inning, loading the bases on a double by Darryl Pui and two hit-by-pitch freebies by Red Sox starter Mike Meyers. Only an infield single by third baseman Connor Panas resulted in a run, with Meyers going on to earn the victory, allowing six hits in six innings and striking out seven Twins. Farquarsson took the loss.

Brantford added five more runs and Burlington, three, in the seventh inning to complete the scoring.
