Brantford Red Sox Sign Sam Worthen

BRANTFORD - The Brantford Red Sox have signed pitcher Sam Worthen for the upcoming Intercounty Baseball League season.

Worthen is a right handed pitcher from Guelph, Ontario.  He is currently a Senior at D'Youville University, pursuing his Doctorate of Physical Therapy. In 2023 Worthen set the DYU Saints' single-season record for saves (8) and for most appearances (22), and ranked 5th on the team in strikeouts (23). He was also selected as an East Coast Conference Second Team all-star.

In April 2023 the Ontario Terriers named Worthen their College Player of the Week after three strong relief appearances. In an article for the Canadian Baseball Network author (and former Brantford Red Sox reliever) Matt Betts noted "Known for his ability to eat innings during his time with the Terriers, Worthen has continued to do the same throughout his college career."

Worthen also pitched 3 shutout innings for the Guelph Royals in the 2020 Legacy Classic pandemic exhibition game vs. the London Majors.
